Police Arrested Thugs Under The Guise Of Illegal Parking Officers In Kemayoran

JAKARTA Three men who acted as illegal parking attendants alias Pak reluctant to be arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police while making illegal levies at a number of points in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta.

The three perpetrators were caught red-handed asking for parking money from motorists in public locations without official permission. The police confiscated Rp250 thousand in cash as evidence of extortion results.

Kemayoran Police Chief, Kompol Agung Adriansyah, stated that the actions of the perpetrators were a form of thuggery that disturbed the public.

"This is a form of thuggery under the guise of a parking attendant. They ask for money arbitrarily without a legal basis. We will take firm action," he said, Friday (16/5).

The three arrested perpetrators had the initials DP (37), E (38), and AMI (18). They often operate in residential areas and crowded centers without official permission from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to manage parking.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro, emphasized that eradicating thuggery is a priority for the police.

"We have instructed all ranks not to hesitate to take action against all forms of thuggery, including illegal parking attendants. This is not only a violation of the regional regulation, but also concerns the security of the community. Jakarta must be free from intimidation and illegal levies," he said.

Currently, the Central Jakarta Metro Police have mapped points prone to thuggery and routinely conduct patrols and control operations.

"Premanism has no place in Central Jakarta. We will be present in the field and take action against anyone who disturbs public order," he said.

The police also appealed to the public to report if they found a similar incident. "Don't be afraid to report it," he concluded.
