DENPASAR - Bali Governor Wayan Koster has taken firm steps to deal with rampant violations by foreign nationals (WNA) in Bali. Koster stated that he would form a joint team to minimize the presence of troubled tourists, aka naughty people on the Island of the Gods.

This was conveyed by Koster during a meeting with the Head of the Regional Office (Kakanwil) of the Bali Immigration Directorate General, Parlindungan.

"It must be integrated together, we cannot move partially. This concerns the image of Bali and the authority of the state," said Koster in a written statement, Wednesday, May 7.

The joint team will involve elements of the Immigration Office, Satpol PP, and Pecalang. They will be deployed directly to the field to carry out integrated and thorough supervision of the activities of foreigners, especially those deemed to deviate from the rules of Bali's law and cultural norms.

According to him, the starting point for supervision began when foreigners set foot in Bali through the airport. Therefore, immigration services must not only be fast and comfortable, but also selective.

"If there are foreigners who have criminal problems, there is no tolerance, strict action must be taken," he said.

This step is a concrete response to the unrest of the Balinese people over the actions of a number of tourists who act arbitrarily, including misusing visas, violating traffic, and harassing local customary values.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Immigration Regional Office, Parlindungan expressed his support for the Bali Governor's initiative. He assessed that cross-agency coordination is very important in maintaining the quality and dignity of Bali tourism.

"We are ready to synergize fully with the Bali Provincial Government. Moreover, the number of foreigners entering continues to increase every year. This is a common challenge," he said.

With the establishment of this joint team, the Bali Provincial Government emphasized that Bali tourism in the future will not only prioritize quantity, but also quality.

Tourists who want to enjoy the beauty of Bali, must also respect local rules and cultures. There is no more space for those who destroy the image of the island.
