The Barelang Police Traffic Unit is still investigating the cause of the truck accident that hit three motorbikes at the Tiban Center red light, Jalan Gajah Mada, Batam City, Riau Islands, resulting in the death of a motorist and three other people injured.
"We have carried out an investigation by observing CCTV footage and asking for information from witnesses at the crime scene, deepening the motives of the truck driver why he got out of control. We have not been able to provide a failed brake statement or anything else, we are still investigating," said Head of Traffic Unit of the Barelang Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Afiditya Arief Widodo in Batam, Saturday.
The accident occurred Friday (2/5) evening at around 17.50 WIB on Jalan Gajah Mada, the Tiban traffic light intersection, Sekupang, involving a lori truck with police number BP 8094 ZH driven by JH and a kernet with the initials MM.
Afid explained that the lori truck was out of control when it was traveling from the direction of Sekupang to Tiba Cipta Land or Southlink.
"The driver lost control until he finally hit a motorcycle rider who was already in his lane, because the lori truck jumped over the road divider or the median of the road on the road," he said.
He said there were four victims of the accident, one of whom was a motorcyclist riding a motorcycle. Of the four people, one victim died and three other people were seriously injured.

"The victim died with the initials CNP, three victims are still receiving medical treatment due to serious injuries, namely AG, MH and RS," said Afid.
He added that the truck driver and assistant had been secured and a urine test was carried out to ensure the presence or influence of alcohol while driving.
"The test results were negative, there was no evidence of the driver or driver under the influence of alcohol," he said.
The police are still investigating whether the lori truck was going to Southlink or Tiban Cipta Land because when the truck lost control, the position of the traffic light in the lane that was crossed by a truck from Sekupang was still red.
"We are still investigating whether you want to be straight? Because the CCTV looks like the traffic light is still on red. Does the driver swerve to the left to avoid a more fatal collision or does it lead to Citra Land," said Afid.
