Labor Day May 1, Government Affirms Workers' Welfare Commitment

JAKARTA - The government pays great attention to the welfare of workers. Ahead of the commemoration of International Labor Day which falls on May 1, the government expresses its full commitment to embracing workers as the main pillar of the nation's economy.

This was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi at the gathering of Workers and Labor Unions at the Indonesian House of Representatives Nusantara IV Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 30, 2025. This event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea, Labor Party President Said Iqbal, KSBSI President Elly Rosita Silaban and Chairman of the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPSI), Mohammad Juhur Hidayat.

According to Prasetyo, the government moved quickly at the direction of President Prabowo to facilitate the commemoration of Labor Day, including licensing and location security. "The president ordered us to help as much as possible. Because for him, the struggle of workers is the main foundation of economic development," he said.

More than just a celebration, this moment was emphasized as a momentum for the consolidation of three economic powers: the government, the business world, and workers. Pak Prabowo views workers as not only a welfare fighter, but an economic pillar. It is impossible for the economy to develop without workers," said Prasetyo.

He also emphasized the importance of synergy between countries and entrepreneurs. "Don't be allergic to entrepreneurs, they create jobs. If these three forces are solid, the 8 percent economic growth target is not impossible," he said.
