Making TNI Soldiers Blind Next Door, Men In Medan Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, sentenced the defendant Rahmad Dedy Silitonga (36) to three years in prison for assaulting a member of the TNI Prada Delfiadi Susanto in Medan.

"The defendant Rahmad Dedy Silitonga was sentenced to three years in prison," said Chief Judge Eliyurita at the Medan District Court, quoted by Antara Wednesday, April 30.

Eliyurita said that the defendant Rahmad's actions were proven to have fulfilled the elements of carrying out the persecution together until the victim's left eye was blind. The defendant's actions were legally proven guilty of violating Article 170 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code, as the primary indictment.

After reading the verdict, Chief Judge Eliyurita gave the defendant and the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Medan Kejari to state their position on the verdict.

"The defendant and the public prosecutor were given seven days to state their position whether to accept or file an appeal," said Eliyurita.

The verdict was lighter than the demands of the Medan Prosecutor's Office, Risnawati Ginting, who previously demanded that the defendant Rahmad be imprisoned for four years.

The Public Prosecutor of the Medan Attorney General's Office, Risnawati Ginting, said in her indictment that the case began on Sunday (4/8/2024). At that time, the defendant Rahmad and Doli Hamonangan Manurung (separate files), Willy Dian Lubis, and Muh Iqbal met Marhen Ginta Saputra, and Theonardo Tamba, all of whom were still DPOs at the Medan Retro Hall entertainment venue.

"There was a commotion between Marhen and an unknown person, so Doli and his friends left the entertainment venue and went to Jalan Gatot Subroto, precisely the SIB Medan roundabout," he said.

The prosecutor said Willy then said to Doli that he saw a man in a red shirt sitting on the angkringan Jalan Gatot Subroto Medan.

According to Willy, the man was a person who made a fuss with Marhen at the Medan Retro Hall entertainment venue.

Hearing the words, said the Public Prosecutor, Doli and his friends then approached the angkringan.

Arriving at the location, they met nine TNI soldiers from the PS Namukur 100 Yonif unit, and one of them was Prada Delfiadi Susanto.

Not long after, Doli with Willy, Rahmat, Marhen, Theonardo, and several other people approached TNI soldiers named Arlen Sianturi.

Next, an argument broke out between Doli and his friends and the TNI soldiers. Then, suddenly Doli and his friends got emotional and hit Arlen in the face.

The fight was inevitable between Arlen and his friends against the defendant Rahmad and his friends. At that time, Arlen was beaten by a crowd by Doli and his friends.

Not long after, Doli and his friends, some members of the youth community organization (OKP), came back with sharp weapons to attack Arlen and his friends.

Seeing that, Arlen and his friends tried to save themselves. At the same time, Defliadi tried to avoid running towards Jalan Sekip Medan or to be precise in front of the Indomaret minimarket, Sekip Medan.

However, in the middle of running, Defliadi was suddenly hit by a motorcycle unit of the Simple Life (SL) motorcycle gang.

"As soon as Defliadi fell and was immediately beaten by a crowd until Defliadi was unconscious. The OKP led by the defendant, was overseeing the SL motorcycle gang organization," said Public Prosecutor Risnawati Ginting.
