JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that the BRICS economic group must be at the forefront of fighting for international law and no one is above the law.

"BRICS must be at the forefront of fighting for international law. Law enforcement must be fair, consistent and without double standards. No one is above the law," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, in a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday, April 29.
He further underlined that unilateral actions and international lawmakers deepen global distrust and inequality.
"We must protect international law institutions from selective law enforcement and political interference," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.
"The orders and fatwas of the International Court must be respected. The UN Security Council must be given the authority to carry out its mandate effectively," he stressed.
It is known that the FMM BRICS which will be held in Rio de Janeiro on April 28-29 will be the first FMM to be attended by the Indonesian Foreign Minister since Indonesia became a full member of the BRICS in early January this year.
