JAKARTA - The National Wildlife Center has released 25 animals from endangered species to King Imam Turkey bin Abdullah Royal Reserve.
The initiative, which partners with the nature reserve development authority, is part of a broader program to breed and reintroduce endangered species into their natural habitat.
"This is another step towards achieving our vision for the development of wildlife in the Kingdom," said National Wildlife Center CEO Mohammed Qurban, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on April 10.
The released animals include five Arab oryxes, 15 Arab deer, two stepped eagles and three Egyptian nasar birds, released in an effort to rebuild native species in their natural environment, restore ecological balance and increase biodiversity in the protected area of Saudi Arabia.
Qurban stressed that this demonstrates the central commitment to breeding endangered species according to international standards, increasing biodiversity and achieving environmental sustainability targets under the 2030 Saudi Vision.
The program also reflects central dedication to collaborating with environmental partners to achieve common goals reflecting the kingdom's efforts to balance economic development with the protection of natural resources.
It said the program was continuing central work in ecosystem rehabilitation and breeding of endangered species, which supports the National Environment Strategy and Saudi Green Prekarsa.
