Governor Koster Ready To Be Summoned By The Ministry Of Industry Regarding The Prohibition Of Drinking Water In Packages

JAKARTA - Bali Governor Wayan Koster said that he had no problem if he was summoned by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) in the aftermath of prohibiting the production of bottled drinking water under 1 liter in Bali.

Koster confirmed that he would come if he received a call from the ministry.

"If called I will come and explain already," he said, Monday, April 14.

However, until now Koster has not received any information about the summons of the Ministry of Industry to him.

Koster previously issued Circular Letter Number 9 of 2025 concerning the Bali movement to clean up trash.

In its distribution, Koster also embeds regulations for bottled drinking water producers so that they no longer produce with single-use packaging below the volume of 1 liter for the good of the environment, as well as prohibiting distribution on the Island of the Gods.

This regulation was welcomed by the Ministry of Environment, even Minister Hanif Faisol admitted that he would oversee this instruction so that it would be realized properly.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Industry through the Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza wants to summon Governor Wayan Koster, who is considered to have coordinated with the central government before launching the policy.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster, apart from admitting that he was ready to be summoned, also gave an initial explanation, and even conveying the coordination referred to by the Ministry of Industry is not a must, because the rules he makes apply only to Bali according to the authority.

"Just call me, there is no need for coordination, this is the authority of the regional head," he said.

Koster himself repeatedly stated firmly in fighting for this rule, even this circular letter is one of the indicators in the draft amendments to regional regulations that are being discussed in the Bali DPRD.
