Not Joining The Coalition, Megawati Only Invites PDIP To Participate In Strengthening Prabowo's Government

Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, emphasized that there was no statement that PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri would join the government coalition, after a one-on-one meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at his residence on Monday, April 7, last night.

Muzani said Megawati only invited the PDIP to support and strengthen the Prabowo government, if deemed necessary. Megawati, he said, also hopes that the Prabowo government will run effectively for the welfare of the Indonesian people.

"Mrs. Mega hopes that Pak Prabowo's presidency, which was inaugurated on October 20, 2024, can be effective, for the good and welfare of the people. Therefore, if it is deemed necessary, please use PDIP as an instrument that can also be used to strengthen the government, but not in a position in the coalition," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 9.

Muzani means that PDIP is taking a position outside the government. However, it still supports President Prabowo's government.

"Yes, it's something like that, basically so," he said.

"So in principle, Megawati also hopes that Pak Prabowo's presidency can be effective as head of government and head of state using his strength for the benefit of the Indonesian people and people," continued Muzani.

However, Muzani said, President Prabowo was grateful for getting PDIP support. Especially Megawati Soekarnoputri who is also the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Yes, I am grateful that Pak Prabowo received support, support from Mrs. Mega in this government and of course this is part of an effort to strengthen the government's position," he said.
