Donors Reduce During Ramadan, Blood Stock In Lebak Banten Is Getting Thinter

Blood stock in the Indonesian Red Cross-Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD-PMI) of Lebak Regency, Banten, ahead of Lebaran 1446 Hijri/2025 AD is running low. This was triggered by the decreased donors when entering the month of Ramadan.

Director of UTD PMI Lebak Regency, Dr. Firman Rahmatullah, said that so far the blood demand for Adjidarmo Rangkasbitung Hospital patients is quite high up to 30 bags per day.

Meanwhile, the existing blood stock did not meet the patient's demand with a total of 494 bags. In fact, class A blood stock as many as 45 bags and class AB as many as 32 bags are very critical, because demand is quite high.

"For group B, there are 119 bags, and class O with 298 bags and meeting patients' requests during Lebaran," he explained in Lebak, Antara, Sunday, March 30.

The lack of blood stock certainly has an impact on the treatment of Adjidarmo Rangkasbitung Hospital patients.

For this reason, his party is optimizing the search for donors outside the area, such as Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi.

Because voluntary donors from the Lebak Regency area are relatively small, so an alternative has to be made to replace donors from the patient's family.

"We are the only ones to meet the blood needs through replacement donors from families, especially emergency patients," he explained.

Meanwhile, Sukri (50), a family member of the Adjidarmo Rangkasbitung Hospital, admitted that he was forced to become a donor to replace his younger brother's patient who contracted dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

Incidentally, the blood needed is class A so that it can be saved from donors.

"We hope that the blood of the two bags will recover quickly from his sister's disease," he also said.
