ASN In Tanjungpinang Kepri Arrested During Marijuana Circulation, Police Investigate Suppliers

The Indonesian National Police (KEPRI) has arrested a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Tanjungpinang City Government (Pemkot) in the Riau Islands (Kepri) with the initials DA allegedly involved in marijuana drug abuse.

Tanjungpinang Police Chief Kombes Pol Hamam Wahyudi said DA was secured by the police along with a colleague with the initials EA who is a private employee.

"Both of them were secured while trying to distribute marijuana," said Kombes Hamam in Tanjungpinang, Wednesday, March 19, as reported by Antara.

The disclosure of this case began when the Tanjungpinang Police Narcotics Unit received information from the public that DA and EA wanted to conduct a sale and purchase of marijuana in the Hang Lekir Street area, Tanjungpinang, Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

After that, the police immediately went down to the scene and managed to secure the two perpetrators.

"From the two perpetrators, officers found evidence in the form of four packages of marijuana," said Kombes Hamam.

In addition to marijuana, the police also secured a motorbike brand Kawasaki BP 6535 TO, then a cellphone, and a scale that was allegedly used by the perpetrators to weigh the marijuana package.

The two perpetrators along with a number of evidences were brought to the Tanjungpinang Police. The police are still carrying out further developments to find out the supplier of marijuana to DA and EA.

"We will find out where the source of the goods (double) came from," said the Tanjungpinang Police Chief.

As a result of their actions, the two perpetrators were threatened with Article 114 Paragraph 1 or Article 111 Paragraph 1 Juncto Article 132 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 Year 2012 concerning Narcotics, with a minimum imprisonment of 5 years, and a maximum of 20 years.
