JAKARTA - North Korea (North Korea) condemned the United States (US) attack on Yemen as an act that violates international law and the sovereignty of a country.

North Korea said the attack would never be justified in any way.

A massive US attack was launched by President Donald Trump starting last week targeting Iran's sided Houthis over the group's attack on shipments of goods in the Red Sea.

The Houthi-led health ministry said the attack killed 53 people including women and children.

North Korean Ambassador to Yemen, Ma Dong Hui, said Washington was "indiscriminately" targeting civilians and property by mobilizing air and sea troops including aircraft carriers.

"The military attack by the United States is a gross violation of the UN Charter and international law, and is a blatant violation of the territorial sovereignty of other countries that cannot be justified in any way," Ma said.

"I express deep concern about illegal and reckless military action by the United States, which is obsessed with realizing geopolitical ambitions and I strongly condemn and reject it," said Ma.

The US Department of Defense said the attack hit more than 30 locations and involved fighter jets launched from aircraft carriers in the Red Sea.
