Indonesian Navy Shoots Car Rental Boss Crying, Asks For Sentences

JAKARTA - The defendant, a member of the Indonesian Navy (AL) in the case of shooting the car rental boss at the KM45 rest area of the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, burst into tears. The defendant regretted his actions so he asked that his sentence be lightened because he had a wife and child.

"We deeply regret our actions, regret all our mistakes. But we ask for permission very deeply from the panel of judges. We are the backbone of the family, we have a small child," said defendant one on behalf of the Head of Classi (KLK) Bambang Apri Atmojo after reading the memorandum of defense (pleidoi) at the Jakarta Military Court II-08, Cakung, East Jakarta, Monday 17 March, confiscated by Antara.

Not only that, he still takes care of his parents (mother) who live with his family.

"Our parents only have our mother who lives with us. And we are still taking care of her. We ask the panel of judges to give justice to us," he said.

Bambang admitted that the shooting he carried out was a spontaneous attitude to protect the safety of himself and his colleagues, namely the defendant two Second Sergeant Akbar Adli and the defendant three First Sergeant Rafsin Hermawan.

"We did this on purpose or we had this intention. It all happened because we were forced. Our safety is threatened," said Bambang.

On the other hand, Bambang admitted his mistake by helping the defendants, three First Sergeant Rafsin Hermawan, buy a car with incomplete documents.

"We are aware of our mistakes by helping our colleagues buy incomplete cars. We admit our mistakes. We do not avoid the slightest of the victims. We only ask for the judge's decision to give the fairest possible justice," said Bambang.

A similar regret was also felt by the defendant two Akbar after taking the life of the late Ilyas Abdurrahman (bos rental) who was the head of the household.

"We feel human beings who do not escape sin. We avoid killings. And we avoid clashes, we save ourselves. We have no intention of losing the lives of the victims," said Akbar.

In his tears, Akbar asked the Jakarta Military Court II-08 Panel of Judges to continue to allow himself and his two colleagues to remain Indonesian Navy soldiers so that they can support their wives and children.

"We ask Your Majesty to allow us to remain TNI soldiers who flow in our blood, which we have obtained with our hard work to become soldiers of the Frog Troop Command (Kopaska), who put our lives in our hands," said Akbar.

Meanwhile, the defendant three Rafsin also asked the panel of judges to give himself the opportunity to become a Navy soldier as well as a better Indonesian citizen as guided by the applicable Qur'an, Pancasila, and Law (UU).

"Let us be better human beings, guided by the Quran, to become better citizens, guided by Pancasila and law. Please allow us to become better TNI soldiers. We hope that the panel of judges will all lighten our sentences. We are very sorry," said Rafsin.

Previously, it was reported that two defendant members of the Indonesian Navy (AL) on behalf of the Head of Classi (KLK) Bambang Apri Atmojo and First Sergeant Akbar Adli were charged with life imprisonment and additional crimes were fired from the Indonesian Navy's military service during the Jakarta Military Court II-08 trial, related to the shooting case of the car rental boss at the KM45 rest area, Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, Jayanti, Tangerang Regency, Banten, Thursday (2/1).

Meanwhile, the defendant three, namely First Sergeant Rafsin Hermawan, his party demanded a principal sentence of four years in prison for his actions and an additional sentence was fired from the military service of the Indonesian Navy.

In addition, the Military Court also demanded that the three defendants members of the Indonesian Navy (AL) in the case of shooting the car rental boss at the KM45 rest area, the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road to pay compensation (restitution) to the victim.

The defendant, one on behalf of the Head of Classi (KLK) Bambang Apri Atmojo, paid restitution to the family of the late Ilyas Abdurrahman (rental boss) amounting to Rp209.6 million, while to Ramli's brother, the injured victim was Rp146.4 million.

The second defendant, Sergeant Satu Akbar Adli, was charged with paying restitution of Rp. 147 million to the family of the late Ilyas Abdurrahman and Ramli's family amounting to Rp. 73 million.

Meanwhile, the third defendant, First Sergeant Rafsin Hermawan, was required to pay restitution to Ilyas Abdurrahman's family in the amount of Rp. 147 million and Ramli's family in the amount of Rp. 73 million, subsidiary to three months in prison.
