Houses On The Bank Of The Batanghari River, Jambi Collapsed, Caused By Large Vehicle Vibrations

JAKARTA - The Fire and Rescue Service (Damkartan) identified the cause of the collapse of a house located on the banks of the Batanghari River, or Telanaipura Low Structure, Jambi City.

The head of the Jambi City Fire Department, Mustari Afandi, revealed that the cause of the collapse of the non-permanent house was because it was on the side of the national road which was passed by large vehicles every day, causing a vibration on the support pole of the house which only used wooden shells.

From his review, the foundation of the wooden stake cannot withstand the structure of the house structure due to overflowing water from the Batanghari River under the house.

Then there was a storm rain which caused the stake structure of the house to enter the ground, and lacked balance and so collapsed. It is estimated that the loss suffered by the victim was less than Rp. 50 million.

The fire department also communicated with the Mayor of Jambi regarding the handling of the collapsed residents' houses.

The Jambi City Government, he said, immediately proposed assistance to victims through unexpected expenditure funds (BTT).

"The condition of the building is heavily damaged, to get disaster victims from the Jambi City Government through BTT funds," he said in Jambi Monday, March 10, which was confiscated by Antara.

His party also informed the victim regarding logistical assistance from the Social Service.

In addition, the school, namely SDN 208/V Jambi City, is expected to help with school supplies for the victim's children. Currently, the owner of the house and family has been evacuated at the house of his relative.

This incident occurred on Sunday, March 9 at around 02.15 WIB, the victim who was sleeping listened to the sound of the pole shaking.

At that time, the owner of the house immediately decided to take his family to move to the side room of the house.

After moving the non-permanent building measuring four times eight meters, it collapsed and hit a puddle of water from the Batanghari River which was at an altitude of 50 cm.
