The People's Movement Becomes Anies Baswedan's Way Of Maintaining Electability And Facing Prabowo Subianto In 2029

JAKARTA UIN political observer Syarif Hidayatullah, Bakir Ihsan said that the People's Movement Organization is Anies Baswedan's way of caring for electability and facing Prabowo Subianto in the upcoming 2029 presidential election.

"Through this movement, Anies can take steps that can close rooms that have not or have not been covered by the government so that Anies becomes a more existing gap," he said, Sunday, March 9, 2025.

As is known, the People's Movement Organization led by Anies spokesman Sahrin Hamid was declared last Thursday, February 27, 2025. The presence of Anies Baswedan in the declaration raises speculation that the People's Movement will transform into a political party as Anies' political vehicle in 2029. Although in the end the speculation was dismissed by Sahrin and Anies who stated that the People's Movement was only a forum for the group of volunteers who had supported him.

However, Bakir still sees that the People's Movement has the potential to become a political party. Moreover, there is still more than four years before entering the political year in 2029.

The People's Movement is the embryo of Anies' political vehicle in the 2029 presidential election. This is because Anies is not a cadre of any political party and needs a political party to be able to run in the 2029 presidential election. Moreover, the Constitutional Court's decision has also removed the presidential nomination threshold in the 2029 presidential election. This means that everyone has the opportunity to run as long as it is nominated by a political party," he explained.

"If Anies still wants to run for the 2029 presidential election, then he must prepare his political vehicle. Now it depends on how far Anies is able to facilitate the prerequisites for the establishment of a political party. One of them is the funds and commitments involved in it to continue to make Anies an icon," continued Bakir.
