US Cancels Decision To Stop The Malaria-TBC Handling Program Budget

JAKARTA - A number of health programs whose funding with the US was suddenly suspended last week, were launched and have received a letter of cancellation of the decision.

Michael Adekunle Charles, chief executive of RBM Partnership to End Malaria, said the letter of cancellation of the decision was received on Wednesday night.

"I think that's good news. We need to wait in the coming days to get additional guidance," he said.

However, Charles said it would be difficult unless funding began to flow again. Several US foreign aid contractors and grant recipients will fight for payments to be returned to federal judges in the US on Thursday.

Other programs organized by the United Nations and partly funded by the US, including the Stop TB Partnership, have also canceled its funding shutdown, two sources close to the group told Reuters.

Trump ordered a temporary suspension of 90 days for all US foreign aid on his first day back in office.

The measures include orders to stop the next stop work to stop USAID operations around the world, endangering the delivery of life-saving food and medical aids, disrupting global humanitarian aid efforts.

The government has also put most USAID staff on leave and cost 1,600 jobs.
