Cikarang Prison Flooded, Director General Of PAS Ensures Service Is Not Disturbed

JAKARTA - The Director General of Corrections (Dirjen PAS) of the Ministry of Immigration and Mashudi Penitentiary ensures that services for inmates or inmates at the Cikarang Penitentiary (Lapas), Bekasi Regency, who were affected by the flood, continue to run.

This was conveyed by Mashudi when directly observing the condition of the Cikarang Prison which is adjacent to the Cikarang Correctional Center (Bapas), to ensure safety, fulfillment of food services, and care for the sick, on Tuesday, March 4 evening.

"Although currently the conditions are very concerning because floods and lighting have to be extinguished for the safety of all, security, services and care for the inmates must continue to run as much as possible," said Mashudi, as stated in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 5, quoted by Antara.

On that occasion, Mashudi reminded the Head of Cikarang Prison and his staff to coordinate and cooperate with those who would support eradication and recovery from the impact of floods, including PLN, BMKG, to the Cikarang Police to evacuate a number of inmates.

According to Mashudi, several female inmates were temporarily transferred to the Bandung Women's Prison.

The prison has also collaborated and received support from the Bekasi Metro Police and the Cikarang Police in the form of one platoon of officers, 10 Brimob members, and rubber boats to help traffic and provide food for the inmates.

The residents of the Cikarang Prison have also been moved to a higher place. Until now, conditions remain conducive and resolved. Please pray that this disaster can be resolved quickly," said the Director General of PAS.

In addition, as a flood prevention measure, the Cikarang Prison conducts water suction that is dumped into lower areas outside the prison with the help of pump equipment from the Regional Disaster Management Agency which also lends rubber boats.

"We continue to monitor and coordinate with various parties in handling floods in Cikarang Prison," said Mashudi.
