4 Ships From Lamongan Catch Fish Using Cantrang In South Kalimantan Seized By Polairud

KALSEL - Directorate of Water and Air Police of the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Ditpolairud Polda) arrested four ships using cantrang fish fishing gear from Lamongan Regency, East Java.

"The perpetrators are operating looking for fish in Asam-Asam Waters, Tanah Laut Regency," said Director of Polairud Polda South Kalimantan Kombes Pol Andi Adnan Syafruddin in Banjarmasin, Tuesday, March 4, as reported by Antara.

The action against the cantrang ship after local fishermen provided information that was immediately followed up by the Gakkum Sub-Directorate team of the South Kalimantan Police Ditpolairud led by AKBP Jeremyas Putranto.

Together with the joint team of Korpolairud Baharkam Polri led by Kompol Suryo Pandowo as the KP Commander. Measuring-5010 and Tarakan Marine and Fishery Resources Monitoring Station (PSDKP), Directorate General of PSDKP of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), officers found four vessels were fishing on Wednesday 19 February using a cantrang.

From the inspection of four ships, a total of more than 23 tons of fish caught during three days at a distance of about 23 nautical miles in the Asam-Asam Waters area.

In detail, the Malda Jaya I fishing boat caught about 3 tons of fish, the Mayang Sari II fishing boat was found with 17 tons of fish, the New Utra II fishing boat was found with 1.8 tons of fish and the Kurnia Tawakal fishing boat loaded with 1.5 tons of fish.

The cantrang used is less than 2 inch in diameter and is in the form of diamonds which are clearly prohibited and not environmentally friendly.

Meanwhile, the fishing permit owned by the perpetrators is a bag with a size of more than 2 inch and in the form of a square or square.
