Kohod Village Head Given 30 Days To Pay A Fine Of IDR 48 Billion

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that the village head of Kohod Arsin bin Asip and his staff were given a deadline of 30 days to pay an administrative fine of Rp 48 billion due to the construction of a sea fence in the waters of Tangerang Regency, Banten.

"The maximum time limit is 30 days they have to pay. They have also expressed their ability in the statement letter," Trenggono said in a working meeting with Commission IV of the DPR in Jakarta, Thursday, February 27.

Trenggono conveyed this when DPR Commission IV member Daniel Johan studied the Tangerang sea fence in the deepening session at the working meeting. During the working meeting, Daniel Johan asked Minister Trenggono to confirm who was responsible for the construction of the sea fence in Tangerang.

Daniel Johan asked Trenggono whether the Kohod village head was the main actor in the construction of the sea fence in accordance with the inspections carried out by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).

"I just want to make sure, does the results of the KKP examination show that the one who built this sea fence was the village head? So, is it true that the village head carried out this development?" asked Daniel.

Responding to this question, Trenggono confirmed that the head of Kohod Village and his staff were indeed the party who built the sea fence.

"The results of our investigation show that the village head and his staff admit that they have built the sea fence, and they have made a written statement," Trenggono explained.

However, Daniel emphasized that his party needed evidence of the results of the examination, not just a statement from the Kohod village head and his staff. "We need the results of the examination, not just a statement," said Daniel.

Trenggono reiterated that based on the results of the examination, the village head of Kohod and his staff were responsible for the construction of the sea fence, in accordance with the confession they made in the official document.

"Yes, the results of the examination are like that," said Trenggono.

Trenggono explained that until now the fine had not been paid, considering that the determination of administrative sanctions had only been carried out yesterday. However, he emphasized that his party had set a deadline of 30 days for the Kohod village head and his staff to settle the payment of the fine.

"The Kohod village head and his staff have expressed their willingness to pay, although until now no payment has been made," concluded Trenggono.
