Ternate SAR Team Searches For Ships With 8 Passengers Engine Dead

TERNATE - The Search and Rescue Office of the Ternate Basarnas, North Maluku (Malut) conducted a search for eight passengers of KM Marimoi02 who were reported to have experienced engine failure in North Halmahera Waters.

Head of the Ternate SAR Office, Iwan Ramdani, said that KM Marimoi 02 reportedly experienced engine failure while at sea in the waters of Dama Halmahera Island, North Maluku.

"The Tobelo SAR Post Team has received the report from the local harbormaster and immediately conducted a search," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 27.

Reported on February 25, 2025, KMN Marinoi 02 GT 23 with a POB of eight crew members went to sea from the fishing port of Tobelo to Morotai to take a pass.

On February 26, 2025, KMN Marinoi 02 GT 23 departed for fishing behind the island of Dama.

On February 27 at 00.05 WIT, KMN Marinoi 02 GT 23 experienced engine failure and reported the incident to Syahbandar Tobole, who then forwarded the report to the Tobelo SAR Post and asked for SAR assistance.

Head of the Ternate SAR Office, Iwan Ramdani, explained that on February 27, 2025 at 12.15 WIT, the Tobelo SAR Post Rescue Team headed to Tobelo port to carry out initial coordination and then moved to carry out SAR operations with the coordinates of Duga 61.23 NM Radian 314.43 degrees from the Tobelo SAR Post to LKK.
