JAKARTA - Belgian federal prosecutors began an investigation into the alleged hacking of the Belgian intelligence services VSSE in November 2023 by China. Prosecutors have received charges filed by VSSE regarding the case.
The Chinese Embassy in Belgium did not immediately respond to a request for response to the development of this case.
Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, February 26, Belgian daily newspaper Le Soir reported for two years that hackers suspected of being linked to Chinese espionage exploited abuses at American cyber companies and gained access to 10 percent of Belgian intelligence services' emails.
While classified data remains safe, nearly half of the Belgian service's personal information may have been compromised, the newspaper reported.
