Holding The Inauguration Thanksgiving Party, NTT Governor Calls Not Using Government Money

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Governor Melkianus Laka Lena admitted that the implementation of the people's party for the inauguration of him and the Deputy Governor of NTT on March 1, 2025 did not use the government budget.

This was conveyed by him regarding the circulation of the calendar of the people's party for the inauguration of the governor and deputy governor of NTT which circulated outside the community in Kupang City amid budget efficiency ranging from the central government to local governments.

"This is the team's initiative without using government money," he said when contacted via WhatsApp from Kupang, Wednesday, February 26, was confiscated by Antara.

Melki, who is still undergoing a retret in Magelang along with a number of other regional heads, also asked to contact the committee that organized the people's party.

Chairman of the Committee for the Thanksgiving People's Party Heru Dupe was met at the NTT Golkar DPD office also said that the implementation of the people's party was purely a thanksgiving party without a regional budget (APBD).

"What we need to say is that people's parties do not use the APBD. So this is purely mutual cooperation, Mr. Melki and Mr. Johni and their families," he said.

The implementation of the people's party is a form of their gratitude to the community and gratitude to God for the journey that has been through in recent years.

The implementation of the people's party also involves micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Kupang City, with the aim of improving the community's economy.

In response to this, the Head of the NTT Ombudsman Representative Darius Beda Daton assessed that this people's party is not urgent for the current difficult situation of society.

"This efficiency is enough to happen to our MSMEs because government spending has dropped dramatically. If you use personal money, it's another matter," he said.

According to him, the most appropriate way to thank NTT residents is to solve various problems that plagued residents in various fields, agriculture, livestock, smooth logistics at ports, malnutrition and extreme poverty.
