JAKARTA - A 32-year-old Czech foreign national (WNA) was arrested by the Malaysian police after doodleing the walls of the building with spray paint.
The arrests were made after the police headquarters (mabespol) of the Mersing district received a report of illegal graffiti on February 23 at around 1.56 pm.
The police then carried out tracking using footage from a number of closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) and then arrested the Czech.
A team from the district's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested the foreign national at 3.15 pm on the same day, read a statement from the Mesrsing Police Headquarters, Wednesday, February 26, quoted from Bernama.
Furthermore, the High City Magistrat Court gave a four-day detention order against the foreigner to facilitate police investigations.
The case is being investigated under Article 427 of the Criminal Code for property damage and destruction.
Meanwhile, an upload on the official Facebook page of the Mersing District Council, My Mersing, shows a picture of graffiti painted spraying on buildings and walls around the city.
"It is unclear what the person's intention was to damage some areas around the town of Mersing, but it is clearly a violation for damaging public property," the post wrote.
