Ukrainian President Is Disappointed, Consider Trump Stuck In Disinformation Bubble

JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Donald Trump was caught in a "disinformation bubble". Zelenskiy dismissed the US president's false claims regarding his 4 percent popularity.

Zelenskiy, whose confidence level stands at 57 percent, according to a poll in Kyiv, said efforts to replace him would not work, a day after Trump accused him of starting a war with Russia and said he was widely unpopular among the Ukrainian people.

The Ukrainian war began when Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops to Ukraine in a massive invasion three years ago.

The Ukrainian president has hinted that Trump is repeating the disinformation about the situation he thinks is from Moscow.

"As we talk about 4 percent, we have seen this disinformation, we understand that it comes from Russia," Zelenskiy said at a news conference broadcast on Ukrainian television.

"President Trump unfortunately lives in this disinformation space," he continued.

"Around Trump there is a disinformation bubble," Zelenskiy said as reported by Reuters, Wednesday, February 19.

Trump made statements regarding the President of Ukraine on Tuesday and also accused Zelenskiy of starting a war against Russia, which began when Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine in a massive invasion three years ago.

The fast-moving diplomacy over Ukraine, starting with Trump's telephone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin a week ago, has sparked concern in Ukraine and European countries the two leaders could reach a swift deal that ignores their security interests, reward Moscow for their invasion and allow Putin to freely threaten Ukraine or other countries in the future.

Trump sent his Finance Minister Scott Bessent to Kyiv last week with an agreement to access Ukraine's natural resources.

Zelenskiy told wartawa he did not sign it because he did not provide any guarantees in return.
