The Palace Calls Prabowo's Closeness To Erdogan, Modi To Anwar Ibrahim Bringing G20 Interests

JAKARTA - The Presidential Communication Office assesses President Prabowo Subianto's closeness to a number of state leaders, such as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for bringing the same interests as members of the G20.

Spokesperson for the Presidential Communication Office, Philips J. Vermonte, said President Prabowo's closeness to the three leaders of the country was due to Turkey, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia having an important role as fellow members of the G20.

"So there is a role as the leading countries of countries that are building in the south or the 'developing countries' of the 'global soup'. They feel they have the same interest in advancing and ensuring sustainable economic growth," Philips said via an audio message received in Jakarta, Friday, February 14, was confiscated by Antara.

Philips' statement relates to President Prabowo's meeting with a number of state officials, which he intensely conducted at the beginning of the year, starting from his state visit to India and Malaysia at the end of January, and recently receiving a state visit from President Erdogan at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

Philips explained that President Prabowo, President Erdogan, PM Modi and PM Anwar Ibrahim have an interest in bringing prosperity together for their respective people.

The role of maintaining world peace also did not escape discussion when leaders met, given the current geopolitical conditions that create uncertainty.

"They also carry out the role of maintaining world peace where more and more conflicts create uncertainty within the scope of international politics," said Philips.

He added that the President's philosophy of running a "good neighbor policy" or being a good neighbor, not only with ASEAN countries, but also in other areas, is an important asset for Indonesia.

According to Philips, good state bilateral relations start from good relations between its leaders, so that this is the basis for Prabowo's overseas travel, as well as welcoming domestic visits.

"Overseas relations often begin with good relations between leaders. So I think the same as domestic modalities, foreign modalities are the basis for President Prabowo's many overseas trips," said Philips.
