JAKARTA - Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy stated that President Prabowo Subianto gave directions for Indonesia to make the best use of its participation in the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan.
"The direction of the President is clear, we have to make the best use of this expo, because it turns out that this expo has been planned from the start, since 3 years ago," Rachmat said at the Kick Off Meeting of Indonesian Participation at the 2025 World Expo Osaka at the Bappenas Building, Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, February 13.
He stated that this international exhibition is very important because Indonesia first participated in a large expos after the COVID-19 pandemic in the midst of the challenges of the world, which is currently in difficult conditions, ranging from climate change to global food problems.
In addition, he continued, Indonesia's financing to prepare for participation in the World Expo 2025 Osaka is very large.
"The budget used for this expo, as far as I remember, has almost been the same as the budget of the Ministry of National Development Planning for 1 year. Therefore, I really hope that this expo will be held as well as possible," said Rachmat.
On this occasion, he said that the Deputy Minister of VAT/Deputy Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard would become Chairman of the Steering Committee in the implementation of this exhibition because Febrian had many experiences related to international cooperation when he served as ambassador.
"We invite some ministries and invite them to be involved. But, again for budget reasons, it seems that it is not easy to organize. However, the presence of Mr., the presence of Mrs., Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, has given us hope," he said.
"To the sponsors who attended today, especially from Astra International, we really appreciate it, and other sponsors we also really appreciate. To Ambassador Tantowi Yahya (Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand 14) who also helped lay the foundations of this implementation, we also really appreciate it. It's just that, we have to think about the budget issue later," said the Minister of VAT.
The Indonesian Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo Osaka with an area of 1,750 m2 will display cultural diversity and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB/SDGs) with the theme Designing Future Society for Our Lives.
The design of this pavilion architecture is in the form of a boat as a symbol of Indonesia's vision that continues to advance. The government reports that the construction of the Indonesian Pavilion has reached 75 percent and is targeted for completion in March 2025.
A total of 17 ministries/agencies, 8 local governments, as well as 23 private companies and non-governmental organizations (HR) participated in this event.
