Turkey Interested In Tourism Collaboration With Indonesia

JAKARTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed that his party is interested in strengthening collaboration with Indonesia, one of which is in the tourism sector to increase tourist visits between two countries.

Erdogan conveyed that cooperation in the tourism sector could increase the cooperative-to-people relationship between the two countries and Erdogan made this statement during a joint press statement with President Prabowo Subianto at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Wednesday, February 12.

"Last year, from Indonesia, 200,300 tourists visited [to Turkey] and from Turkey as many as 50,000 tourists visited [to Indonesia]. Although this figure is very encouraging, I think this figure is still below our common potential," Erdogan said explaining the need for cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector. .

In order to increase this potential, Erdogan hopes that Turkey and Indonesia can jointly increase mobility access to each country.

Thus, the goal of improving relations between people to people who provide new experiences for both Turkish and Indonesian people can be achieved through the tourism route.

"We also emphasize the importance of flight carrier volume for each country," said Erdogan.

In addition to interest in the tourism sector, Erdogan said Turkey is also open to increasing the experience of people's relationships with Indonesia through educational channels.

According to him, until early 2025, many students from Indonesia had registered and were enthusiastic about the scholarships provided by the Government of the Republic of Turkey and now the number has reached 5000 people.

"We view as many as 5,000 Indonesian students studying in Turkey as cultural ambassadors. In this case, the Yunus Emre Institute, the Turkish Maarif Foundation, and the TIKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency) will continue their efforts to develop the site to people's relationship," said Erdogan.
