West Sumatra Disdikcapil Website Hacked, Provincial Government Makes Recovery Efforts

The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) temporarily blocks the official website of the Department of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil) which is suspected of being hacked by hackers who replace the appearance with online gambling sites (judol).

Head of West Sumatra Disdukcapil Besri Rahmad said the hack was suspected to have occurred last Monday night. When they received the news, his party immediately coordinated with the West Sumatra Communications and Information Service for quick handling.

"After the hack incident, we immediately coordinated with the Kominfo to take quick steps by blocking and securing the site to prevent further abuse," he said in Padang, Antara, Tuesday, February 11.

Currently, the website is in the process of recovering so that it will immediately return to normal operations.

Disdukcapil emphasized that the hacked website only contains information and public publications, without storing residents' personal data.

"Population data such as the Population Identification Number (NIK), Family Card Number (KK), and other documents remain safe, because all of them are managed centrally by the Ministry of Home Affairs with layered security systems," explained Besri.

The data at the Ministry of Home Affairs is protected by strict protection mitigation standards. After the incident, anticipatory steps were immediately taken in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and applicable cybersecurity protocols.

The implementation of the information security management system based on Permendagri Number 57 of 2021 is the main basis for maintaining data security.

In addition, he said, the cybersecurity team continues to monitor potential incidents, conduct periodic information technology audits, and implement information security procedures based on SNI ISO/IEC 27001 standards.

Other measures include the use of closed networks (VPNs) for data access and data destruction damaged or invalid.

"We also ensure the confidentiality of the data by requiring all relevant parties to sign a confidentiality agreement (Non-Disclosure Agreement)," he added. Besri appealed to the public to remain calm and not worry.
