JAKARTA - Sunday night's drone strike sparked a fire in Kyiv and injured a woman, as well as damaged several houses in the northeastern city of Sumy, Ukrainian officials said on Monday.

The Ukrainian military said on Monday it had shot down 61 of the 83 drones with 22 others likely crashed due to electronic warfare.

"No injuries were reported in the attack that sparked a fire in a non-residential building in Kyiv," Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a post on the Telegram messaging app.

A 38-year-old woman was hospitalized after Russia launched a drone in Sumy, which is a wider administrative center for the Sumy region, Ihor Kalchenko, governor of the region on Telegram.

As a result of the drone strike, the five houses there were also resak.

Photos uploaded by emergency services from the site show cars being engulfed in flames next to tall buildings with damaged windows.

Meanwhile, emergency services said the attack knocked down more than 300 windows and caused the evacuation of 65 residents from damaged houses. There was no comment from Russia.

It is known, both Russia and Ukraine have denied targeting civilians since the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022.
