President Zelensky Ready For Dialogue Ends War If Security Guarantees From America And Europe

JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky said the US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war quickly in Ukraine was not only to stop the war, but also to ensure Russia would not carry out aggression again.

President Zelensky said Ukraine did not want to repeat the experience of peace agreements and talks that failed to bear fruit in the years leading up to Moscow's full-scale invasion in February 2022. And that, he said, meant imposing security guarantees.

"The frozen conflict will lead to more aggression and more. Then who will win the prize and be recorded in history as the winner? No one. This will be an absolute defeat for everyone, both for us, as is important, and for Trump," President Zelensky told ITV. UK, reported Reuters on February 10.

"He doesn't just need to end the war. He needs to act so that (Russian leader Vladimir) Putin doesn't have the opportunity to fight again with us. This is the main thing and everyone has to admit it. It will be a win," said President Zelensky.

On the occasion the Ukrainian leader repeated his willingness to hold talks with Russia to end the war as long as Western Ukrainian allies - the United States and the European Union - are involved.

"If I have an understanding that America and Europe will not leave us and they will support us and provide security guarantees, I will be ready for any format of talks," he explained.

"If there is a security guarantee, we can talk about the end of the 'hot phase' of war. You have to understand we need to know how this war will end. That we are all on the same side as America and Europe," he said.

Ukrainian President said President Putin did not want to end the war and "there is no way to approach it half-heartedly."

"We need security guarantees, understanding so that whatever he wants or if anyone who comes after him wants to kill Ukrainians or seize our land they will receive such a response," he said.

President Zelensky on the occasion also repeated his statement ruling out holding elections in Ukraine until the war ended, as it would jeopardize the country by removing the main provisions of martial law.

Earlier, President Putin said President Zelensky had no legitimacy in any talks as he remained in office after his term ended.

"We have to suspend martial law and if we suspend a military emergency, we lose the army," he explained.

"And, in principle, Russia will be happy. This is a matter of military, moral, and similar capabilities that will disappear," he said.
