JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is still reviewing policies related to simple rental flats (rusunawa) for its citizens. One of the points that is being prepared is related to the limit on the rental period for the Rusunawa unit.
"We are still reviewing, of course we will provide the best policy," said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi in Jakarta quoting ANTARA, Sunday, February 9.
Teguh said the DKI Provincial Government did not want to rashly make decisions, so the public was asked to remain calm.
On the other hand, he continued, the public also needs to understand government policies.
"So, please help the community to remain calm. Later we will discuss the best policies, what is the best solution," said Teguh.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (DPRKP) planned to limit the stay period in the Rusunawa as an effort to encourage people to have an increase in housing from being tenants to residential owners.

According to the DKI Provincial Government, restrictions on living in flats are needed because rusunawa is an incubation place for people who have financial limitations.
The Governor Regulation (Pergub) 111 of 2014 concerning the Mechanism of Occupying Simple Flats Rentals is still under brewing.
Later, the rules for the timeframe for the placement of flats will be regulated in the revision of the Pergub.
The general public is programmed to only be able to extend five times to rent, or a maximum of 10 years.
In the ninth year, the Rental Simple Flats Management Unit (UPRS) will be asked by the Office and the integrated team to check the feasibility of residents to inhabit the flats.
However, the plan was rejected by one of the members of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Maheasy.
According to him, the implementation of the flat occupancy policy is a maximum of six years for the general public and 10 years for those who are programmed to trigger unrest.
In addition, there is no guarantee that those who have lived in flats for six years have their economy established.
Ida hopes that the PRKP Service will have social sensitivity. Moreover, they know that many residents of the flats are still in arrears in rental payments.
