Today's Weather, BMKG Predicts Rain In A Number Of Big Cities In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts the dominance of rainy weather in many cities in Indonesia today, ranging from light intensity to lightning accompanied.

BMKG forecaster Rira Damanik in the BMKG online weather forecast which was followed by Jakarta, Sunday said that a number of major cities in Indonesia have the potential to experience thick cloudy weather and rain with various intensity today.

Starting from the Sumatra region, Rira said that thick clouds predicted by BMKG will be experienced by people in Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang and Jambi. During the same period light rain is predicted to fall in Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Bengkulu, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang and there is the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Bandar Lampung.

"The potential for thick cloudyness is in the Jakarta area, the potential for light rain in Serang and Semarang. Meanwhile, the potential for moderate rain is in the areas of Bandung, Yogyakarta and Surabaya," he said.

Rira said there was the potential for rain in the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, including light rain in Mataram, moderate rain in Denpasar and rain accompanied by lightning in the Kupang area.

In Kalimantan, BMKG also predicts the possibility of rain throughout its provincial capitals including light rainfall in Palangkaraya and Samarinda as well as rain accompanied by lightning in Pontianak, Tanjung Selor and Banjarmasin areas.

Rain also has the potential to fall in cities in Sulawesi, he said, including light rain in Palu, moderate rain in Kendari and Makassar and then thunderstorms in Mamuju and Manado. Only the city of Gorontalo is predicted to experience cloudy weather today in Sulawesi.

For eastern Indonesia, BMKG predicts thick cloudy weather to be experienced by people in Ternate, Ambon, and Sorong as well as running air in Manokwari. Light rain weather itself is likely experienced by Nabire, Jayawijaya, Jayapura and Merauke.
