Police Shoot 3 Criminals Of Motorcycle Robbery From Madura, Now Weakly Sitting In Wheelchairs

PAMEKASAN - Pamekasan Police Team, East Java, shot three perpetrators of criminal acts for trying to escape and fight officers during an arrest.

"The three people we have forced to paralyze are criminals in the case of motor vehicle theft," said Pamekasan Police Chief AKBP Hendra Eko Triyulianto as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 7.

The total number of suspects arrested by the Pamekasan Police was six people. Three of them had to be shot in the left leg.

During a press conference, the suspect who was shot was placed separately from three other suspects and sat in a wheelchair.

According to the police chief, the officers took firm action when making arrests because they did not want the perpetrators who had been the targets of the operation to escape.

"In addition, these three suspects also tried to fight back when officers were about to make arrests," he said.

The six suspects in the case of motor vehicle theft who were arrested each had the initials AR (21), ME (41), H (39), a resident of Sampang Regency, while FP (25) was a resident of Surabaya, M (38) from Pamekasan, and AF (28) from Sumenep. The evidence confiscated was eight motorcycles.

To account for his actions, the police attacked the six suspects under Article 363 paragraph (1) to 4e and 5e of the Criminal Code (KUHP) with a maximum imprisonment of 7 years.

In addition to arresting the suspect in the motor vehicle theft case, the police also revealed five other cases in the form of drug abuse with eight suspects.

The total amount of evidence confiscated by the police was 6.54 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 10.094 pills of dangerous hard drugs.

The suspects in this drug case were charged with Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a threat of more than five years in prison.

Meanwhile, the suspect in a dangerous strong drug case was charged with Article 435 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, with a maximum penalty of four years in prison.

"So the total number of suspects we have arrested during the operation in the past month is 12 people, namely six cases of motor vehicle theft and eight narcotics cases," he said.
