Police Response To AKBP Hendy Kurniawan Halangi KPK Arrest Hasto-Harun Masiku

The National Police stated that they would process AKBP Hendy Kurniawan, who was said to have secured investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) when he was about to carry out a hand arrest operation (OTT) against PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Harun Masiku.

The name AKBP Hendy Kurniawan appeared at the pretrial hearing of Hasto Kristiyanto regarding the alleged bribery and interim replacement (PAW) of the DPR which was held at the South Jakarta District Court.

"That's in the process, yes, later of course there will be a copy or what will be conveyed," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, to reporters, Friday, February 7.

There was no further statement conveyed regarding AKBP Hendy Kurniawan. It is only mentioned that the Police will follow up on this matter

The name AKBP Hendy Kurniawan was called by the KPK Legal Bureau team in a pretrial hearing. The member of the National Police hindered efforts to arrest KPK investigators.

"When the respondent followed suit and would arrest him, the respondent's officers were instead secured by several other people or teams suspected of being ordered by the applicant (Hasto Kristiyanto) at the PTIK," said a member of the KPK Legal Bureau team, Thursday, February 6.

At that time, a team of five people was arrested by a group of people under the leadership of AKBP Hendy Kurniawan.

As a result, the arrest attempt which took place on January 8, 2020 ended in failure due to the obstruction action.

"An attempt to arrest Harun Masiku and the applicant (Hasto Kristiyanto) cannot be carried out," he said.

Not only secured, members of the KPK enforcement team actually received verbal and physical violence. In fact, all communication tools were confiscated unilaterally for no apparent reason.

"The Respondent's officers were instead searched without procedures, intimidated, and received verbal and physical violence by Hendy Kurniawan and his friends. The communication tools and some of the items belonging to the Respondent's officers were forcibly taken," he said.

Furthermore, the KPK team was interrogated until early morning. AKBP Hendy Kurniawan seemed to be looking for mistakes with certain intentions and objectives

"Even the Respondent's officers were looking for mistakes by testing drug urine, but the results were negative and only released after being picked up by the Director of Investigation of the Respondent," he said.
