Hatta Ali Denies Having Closeness To Harun Masiku: People Are So Good At Selling Names

JAKARTA - Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA) Hatta Ali denied being close to the fugitive in the bribery case for the interim replacement management (PAW) member of the DPR Harun Masiku. He said people like the former PDIP candidate were indeed good at selling names.

This was conveyed by Hatta Ali when confirmed regarding the statement by the KPK Legal Bureau Team at the pretrial hearing against PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) today, Thursday, February 6. It was stated that Harun, who had just become a cadre, became a candidate in the PDIP electoral district (dapil) based on the PDIP vote, namely South Sumatra I.

"What's the closeness? Everyone knows who HM is, so it's too naive if like HM can approach me. Hehe," said Hatta Ali via text message.

Hatta Ali said no one wanted to help Harun. "We threaten people like that, we have to be good at taking care of ourselves because we like to sell names," he said.

The KPK through its legal team explained that Harun Masiku was not an ordinary person. He is believed to have an influence in the Supreme Court (MA) because he knows Hatta Ali.

"It is believed Harun Masiku has influence in the Supreme Court," said a member of the KPK Legal Bureau Team at the South Jakarta District Court, Thursday, February 6.

"Hasto Kristiyanto does not place Harun Masiku in the Toraja area or South Sulawesi area which is originally Harun Masiku," said a member of the KPK Legal Bureau Team.

As previously reported, Harun Masiku is a suspect in the bribery case of former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. This gift was given so that the former legislative candidate could become a member of parliament for the 2019-2024 period replacing the candidate who died.

This case was revealed when the KPK conducted a hand arrest operation (OTT) held by the KPK on January 8, 2020. However, Harun fled and was included in the wanted list (DPO).

The KPK then developed the bribery case by appointing PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

It didn't stop there, Hasto was also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

After becoming a suspect, Hasto filed a pretrial lawsuit. This case is registered with case number 5/Pid.Pra/2025/PN JKT.SEL and Djuyamto acting as the sole judge.
