Clarification Of Baleg Chair Regarding Tatib: DPR Not Removing Officials Only Evaluating

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Legislative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, Bob Hasan, clarified the revision of the DPR's rules that could remove elected officials through a fit and proper test. Bob emphasized that the DPR only evaluates performance and is not authorized to remove officials.

"The orderly statement is implemented with the news that the DPR tomorrow can remove certain positions. So from the title is the rules and regulations that apply to the inside," said Bob Hasan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, February 6.

Bob admitted that there was a debate between the opinion of the candidate and the official. Because he said, Articles 227, 228, 226 are articles related to the candidate.

"The point is that what one feasibility test process is carried out is fit and proper test and so on in their respective commissions. So the candidates are before they are completed," he said.

And after being plenary, continued Bob, Article 228A in the rules explained that the 228A evaluation could be carried out on a regular basis.

"So it's not removing. Yes, in the end, the official who is authorized for periodic evaluation from the DPR finally has a decision to remove it. It was not the DPR RI that removed it," said Bob.

"But we are evaluating because we have the authority to fit and proper test or test the feasibility test we can pass the candidate," continued the Gerindra legislature.

Bob explained that the DPR's signature has the authority to evaluate and conduct consultations in a consensus through applicable mechanisms. Then the DPR can provide recommendations for the results of the evaluation by consensus to the competent authorities.

"Who is the agency with the highest authority? Yes, for example the President, in the Supreme Court, for example the Judicial Commission. So it depends on the authority of the official in charge itself," concluded Bob.
