InDRAMAYU - The Indramayu District Court (PN) has postponed the follow-up trial of the alleged money laundering case (TPPU) with the defendant Panji Gumilang until February 20, 2025.

This delay was made after the defendant's legal adviser asked for additional time to draw up an objection note (exception).

"The trial has been postponed to February 20, 2025, with the agenda of a memorandum of objection or exception of the defendant," said Indramayu District Court spokesman Adrian Anju Purba when confirmed in Indramayu, West Java, Thursday.

Originally, he said, the follow-up trial of case Number 20/Pid.Sus/2025/PN.Idm was held this Thursday with the agenda of reading the exception from the defendant.

According to Adrian, Panji Gumilang's legal adviser apparently had not completed the preparation of the exception and asked the panel of judges for additional time.

"The panel of judges granted the request and determined that the follow-up trial would be held on February 20, 2025," he said.

He explained earlier in the inaugural trial which was held on January 23, 2025, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the Indramayu District Attorney's Office (Kejari) had read out the indictment against Panji Gumilang.

Adrian said that the Public Prosecutor charged Panji Gumilang with a cumulative article, namely Article 70 in conjunction with Article 5 of Law (UU) Number 28 of 2004 concerning Foundations and Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning Money Laundering.

"This indictment is related to the crime of money laundering, because this case cannot stand alone without the main crime," he said.

In the indictment, Panji Gumilang, who has served as Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Boarding School Foundation (YPI) since 2005, is suspected of having transferred the foundation's wealth for personal gain, including paying debt installments at a private bank and buying a number of assets in the form of land and property.

The prosecutor also revealed that the funds transferred by the defendant came from various sources, including School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds and institutions affiliated with YPI.

In addition, from 2014 to 2023, Panji Gumilang is said to have 82 bank accounts and deposits used to manage the flow of funds resulting from the transfer of the foundation's wealth.
