In The Aftermath Of The Ciawi Toll Road Accident, Members Of The DPR Ask The Ministry Of Transportation To Tighten The Supervision Of Commercial Vehicles

JAKARTA - Member of Commission V DPR Sudjatmiko asked the Ministry of Transportation and the Toll Road Regulatory Agency to tighten supervision of logistics vehicles located on toll roads, in the aftermath of a fatal accident that occurred at the Ciawi 2 toll gate.

According to Sudjatmiko, this fatal accident at the Ciawi toll gate towards Jakarta is a form of negligence by regulators and rogue companies in managing logistics service businesses.

He considered that the incident that claimed the death toll of 8 people and 11 people were seriously injured should not have happened. Because the majority of the victims are PT Jasa Marga officers and other vehicle passengers.

"Obviously this is an iceberg phenomenon in logistics transportation management in Indonesia. This incident always occurs and there is no follow-up to the supervision of logistics and commercial vehicle traffic," said Sudjatmiko, Wednesday, February 5.

Sudjatmiko encouraged the Ministry of Transportation and BPJT to prohibit inappropriate vehicles, especially commercial vehicles in the event of Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL). Including vehicles that are considered poor and unfit to enter toll roads.

There are still many Afkir vehicles milling about entering the toll road. It is very disturbing for other vehicles so that a warning system is needed in front of the toll booth in the form of markings or no entry," he said.

The PKB legislator from the West Java VI electoral district emphasized that traffic accidents like this should not happen again. In the future, he will ask for an explanation from the Ministry of Transportation in improving the governance of trade vehicle supervision and regulating toll road users.

"We want in the future zero accidents on the use of toll roads, especially those related to the public transportation service industry," said Sudjatmiko.

It is known that a fatal accident occurred at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate, Katulampa Village, East Bogor District, Bogor City, West Java, Tuesday, February 4, at around 23.30 WIB. As a result of the incident, 19 people became victims. In detail, 11 were injured and 8 people died.
