North Jakarta City Government Optimizes Stationer Pumps To Overcome Floods In Kelapa Gading

JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of North Jakarta has optimized stationary pumps to deal with flooding in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta following the high water level in all connecting channels (Phb) in the area.

"The conditions of all high Phbs are high, such as in Gading Nias, so we have to optimize the stationary pumps we have, such as those in Betik, Artha Gading, and BGR rivers," said Acting Water Resources Implementing Unit Kelapa Gading District, Slamet Riyanto in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 29.

According to him, if the face of the Phb channel recedes, officers will optimize mobile pumps at a number of flood points in Kelapa Gading. However, the current condition, the flood has gradually receded.

"The high water level of the Phb channel is due to the high intensity of rainfall since last night, Tuesday, January 28," he said.

He said it would be useless to operate a mobile pump because currently all stationary pumps operate optimally at all points.

"We optimize pumps to reduce flooding," he said.

Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta BPBD recorded six roads in the Kelapa Gading area that were flooded Wednesday at 10.00 WIB.

Floods submerged Jalan Boulevard Utara as high as 10 centimeters, Jalan Pegangsaan Dua (Green Hill) was flooded as high as 20 centimeters, Jalan Kelapa Hybrid Raya the water level reached 40 centimeters.

Jalan Boulevard Barat Raya was flooded as high as 20 centimeters, Jalan Boulevard Raya the water level reached 25 centimeters, and Jalan Kelapa Nias Raya was flooded up to 50 centimeters.
