SAR Team Finds Second Victim Of Jombang Landslide

The joint SAR team found the second victim, Ducha Ismail (55), related to landslides in Baturejo Hamlet, Sambirejo Village, Wonosalam District, Jombang Regency, East Java.

Malangraya Basarnas Post Coordinator Yoni Fariza said victim Ducha Ismail was found by the joint SAR team at around 16.00 WIB.

"The second victim was successfully evacuated by the joint SAR team and took quite a long time for the evacuation process," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 24.

He said the victim's body was found pinched between the house materials. There were a lot of kitchen utensils and wood around the victim's body, so it did take time for the evacuation process.

The victim was found about 10 meters to 15 meters from the location of his house. He was found dead.

Landslides occurred in Baturejo Hamlet, Sambirejo Village, Jombang, Thursday (23/1) morning. This incident was allegedly due to high rainfall on Wednesday (22/1) night.

This landslide incident resulted in several houses being buried by landslides. In this accident, five people were also victims. Three managed to survive and two were found dead.

In the process of searching for two victims who are father and son, the officers also experienced their own obstacles. The soil conditions around the landslide area are still unstable and it rains during the day.
