KPK Will Starring Hajj Funds, Transparency Warning Delivered To Ministry Of Religion To BPH

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto ensured that his institution would look at the implementation of the hajj. Not a few funds must also be managed transparently.

This was conveyed by Setyo when the KPK held a coordination meeting with the Ministry of Religion, the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), and the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH) at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Jakarta, Thursday, January 23.

"KPK will monitor the transparency of the managed hajj funds considering that there are not a few hajj funds," Setyo said at the meeting, quoted from the KPK statement, Friday, January 24.

In addition, the KPK also reminded the Ministry of Religion, BPKH, and BPH to work together. These institutions should not overlap in the management of Hajj.

"In order not to overlap, we need to review the division of tasks, both as regulators and hajj operators between the Ministry of Religion, BPKH and BPH. Thus, harmonization of regulations and institutional relations has been created," said the former Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

Setyo said the efforts made by his institution were following up on President Prabowo's directives regarding the implementation of the hajj. In addition, the KPK also has the task of carrying out prevention and monitoring in accordance with the KPK Law Article 6 letters a and C.

"Prevention is clear through gratification reporting and LHKPN compliance. While monitoring is a supervision. In this context, the KPK will assist in the best management of Hajj," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Religion Nazaruddin Umar said there were two things that were expected from the KPK. The first is a form of assistance and supervision of the implementation of Hajj, especially in 2025.

The presence of the KPK, also called Nazaruddin, could be a shock effect for anyone who misappropriates their authority.

"Currently there is a Presidential Regulation which explains that BPH will focus on organizing the Hajj next year. So we believe that there will be no overlap of obligations. In addition to supervision and control from the KPK, it has a psychological impact on individuals who play with the implementation of Hajj," concluded Nazaruddin.
