Bareskrim Disrupt the Circulation of 86.3 Kg of Opium Riau-South Sumatra Network

JAKARTA - The Narcotics Crime Directorate (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police thwarted the circulation of 86.3 kilograms of methamphetamine and 5,171 ecstasy pills from the Riau-South Sumatra narcotics network and arrested six suspects.

Director of Criminal Narcotics of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brigjen Eko Hadi Santoso, said that the six suspects who were appointed with the initials I, AR, SHW, TM, YNS, and M. Meanwhile, two other people, namely Punay and Bos Aeng, are on the wanted list (DPO).

"Investigators have named six suspects, namely I, AR, SHW, TM, YNS, and M, while Punay and Boss Aeng are on the wanted list," said Eko as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 4.

He explained that the disclosure of the case began with information from the public regarding the alleged circulation of narcotics in Pekaitan District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau.

Following up on this information, Subdirectorate IV and the NIC Task Force of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police conducted an investigation until they found that suspect I had moved four boxes containing narcotics to a boat.

"I admit that I was ordered by AR to take the four boxes and deliver them to the banks of the Rokan River, Pekaitan District," he said.

Officers then arrested AR, SHW, and TM in the coastal area of the Rokan River along with a car that was prepared to transport the goods.

Based on the statements of SHW and TM, both were ordered by Punay to send the four cartons to Palembang City, South Sumatra. Investigators then carried out a controlled delivery technique to trace the recipient network.

In Palembang, according to Punay's instructions, SHW parked the vehicle carrying the four cartons in the parking area of a hotel.

"Vehicles are parked in a designated location during the day, locked, and the vehicle key is hidden in the exhaust so that it can be picked up by the recipient according to Punay's instructions," said Eko.

A few hours later, the suspect YNS came to pick up the vehicle. To the investigators, YNS admitted that he was ordered by Boss Aeng to pick up a car containing suspected narcotics.

According to Eko, YNS admitted that he knew Bos Aeng through someone with the initials AR when the two were in the Tanjung Balai Karimun Detention House, Riau Islands.

From the disclosure of the case, officers seized 80 black plastic bags containing 86,386 grams or 86.3 kilograms of crude methamphetamine and 5,171 pink TMT brand ecstasy pills.

Currently, all the suspects and evidence have been taken to the Bareskrim Polri Narcotics Division Office in Jakarta to undergo further examination.

"We are still developing the case to uncover the network and other parties suspected of being involved," he said.
