JAKARTA - Members of Commission I of the DPR have asked user-generated content (UGC) platforms to be responsible for fighting the spread of online gambling content. One of them is by setting strict regulations so that online gambling advertisements do not appear on UGC platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.
"UGC platforms should not just pursue profits without paying attention to the negative impact of the content circulating in them. Online gambling is one of the big problems that harm the community, including the younger generation," said member of Commission I DPR from the PKB faction, Sjamsu Rizal, Friday, January 24.
"I think online gambling has become a social disaster that we must overcome together," he continued.
Sjamsu Rizal, who is familiarly called Deng Ical, said online gambling has become a social disaster for the community. Therefore, UGC platforms such as social media must play an active role in eradicating online gambling.
According to him, so far there has been a lot of online gambling advertising content milling about on social media, both openly and covertly. So invite social media users to click.
"This is a serious problem because various social media platforms have reached almost all age groups. If there is no strict limit then UGC can be an entry point for online gamblers," said the PKB legislator.

Responding to the recent disturbing judol phenomenon, continued Daeng Ical, the PKB faction proposed that Panja Judol call a digital platform to discuss the eradication of online gambling.
"We from the PKB faction propose calling a digital platform at the Online Gambling Working Committee meeting which will start working during this session," he said.
This member of the DPR's Online Judi Panja assesses that the UGC platform can moderate content proactively. According to him, the platform can develop automatic detection using AI if it finds advertising content that contains campaigns or online gambling promotions.
"The government can require the UGC platform to provide regular reports regarding their efforts to remove advertising content containing online gambling," he said.
Deng Ical regrets that currently there is still a lot of online gambling promotion content circulating on various digital platforms. "This is what makes us concerned because of the huge negative impact of online gambling," he concluded.
