Mbak Ita And Husband Not Responding To Calls Until This Afternoon, KPK Prepares Further Steps

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will determine its position after the Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu or Mbak Ita and her husband, Alwin Basri, did not fulfill the investigators' summons this afternoon. He should have been questioned by investigators as a suspect in the Semarang City Government (Pemkot).

"Until now, the person concerned has not been monitored at the KPK building. Of course, investigators, in this case, will confirm the presence of the person concerned, either directly or through parties who have been coordinating, in this case, is the admin of the investigation," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 23.

Tessa also said investigators would take appropriate action. "In accordance with the applicable legal framework," he said.

Separately, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto could not explain the actions his institution would take after Mbak Ita did not fulfill the summons. He left all decisions to investigators.

"I haven't informed you yet, I'll check again with the investigators. I return everything to the investigators how investigators follow up on these things," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK again summoned the Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu alias Mbak Ita regarding the alleged corruption within the Semarang City Government (Pemkot) today, Wednesday, January 22. He will be questioned in his capacity as a suspect.

The summons was also made to Mbak Ita's husband, Alwin Basri, who served as Chairman of Commission D of the Central Java Provincial DPRD. However, both of them have yet to show their nose at the anti-corruption commission office.

Meanwhile, Mbak Ita and her husband were summoned on January 17 yesterday. However, both of them were not present.

Mbak Ita is said to have a scheduled agenda. Meanwhile, Alwin asked for a postponement because he was preparing for a pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) on Monday, January 20.

In this case, the KPK has detained two suspects in a corruption case within the Semarang City Government (Pemkot), Central Java on Friday, January 17. They are Martono who is the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian National Construction Implementers (Gapensi) of Semarang City and Rachmat Djangkar.

Martono was detained for allegedly participating in receiving gratuities together with the Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu alias Mbak Ita and her husband, Alwin Basri who also serves as Chairman of Commission D of the Central Java Provincial DPRD.

Meanwhile, Rachmat was detained for allegedly giving bribes related to the procurement of tables and elementary school chairs at the Semarang City Education Office.

Currently, there are three allegations of corruption that allegedly occurred and are being investigated. The details are the procurement of goods and services at the Semarang City Government in 2023-2024, the alleged extortion of civil servants related to incentives for collecting taxes and levies in the Semarang City area as well as the alleged receipt of gratuities in 2023-2024.
