The Ministry Of P2MI's Budget Increases, Carding Believes That The Target Of Sending 425 Thousand Migrant Workers This Year Is Achieved

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI)/Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) requested an additional budget of IDR 1.3 trillion in a joint working meeting with Commission IX of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22.

Minister of P2MI/Head of BP2MI, Abdul Kadir Karding said that with the support of additional budget, the target of 425 thousand Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) this year and increasing protection of PMI is maximized.

"Our target for placement is 425 thousand, one, better service, easier, cheaper. The protection target is to reduce the unprocedural figure, from now on 4.7 million in 2017, hopefully in the future we can reduce it continuously," said Karding at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22.

He conveyed that a number of programs have been formed by the Ministry of P2MI to smooth the achievement of the PMI placement target by 2025. If the target is realized, his party has calculated the addition of foreign exchange which also has an impact on the domestic economy.

"At most, we encourage foreign exchange to increase, including how to change the composition of the medium or high," he said.

For information, Commission IX of the DPR has approved an additional budget proposal for the Ministry of P2MI/BP2MI of IDR 1.3 trillion.

This was revealed by Karding after a working meeting with Commission IX of the DPR discussed the budget for increasing PMI protection which was held behind closed doors at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Wednesday, January 22.

"The proposal for ABT (additional expenditure budget), we propose IDR 1.3 trillion for the following additional budget and thank God all faction and members leaders, with a record ideals of our ideals to protect empowerment and good service to PMI must increase from year to year," said Karding.

Karding detailed that the additional budget should be used in the activities of placing protection and empowerment of PMI. A total of 91 percent of the total budget is used for this main interest.

"So our placement target is because our placement target from 267 to 400 thousand like it or not, we have to strengthen human resources, our advocacy, our services at once we have to open new markets. But don't forget the main quality of protection," explained Karding.

The new market in question, he continued, is the placement like in Europe. "So now we are exploring several countries in Europe other than Germany, we are targeting several countries to be open," he said.

According to Karding, the additional proposal of IDR 1.3 trillion must be managed optimally. Most importantly, he said, the DPR approved the proposed budget of the Ministry of P2MI.

"It's not enough that it's relative, but how will this budget be approved by the finance ministry and friends in Banggar first so we don't know how much the original is going out. Don't know yet, don't get me wrong," said Karding.

"This is a proposal approved by Commission IX and later if the issue is sufficient, it depends on the existing budget. We must not demand too much because the fiscal condition is very limited," he said.
