Tangerang Sea Fence Installer Examined By KKP, Minister Trenggono Ensures That He Will Be Fined

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono ensured that the perpetrators of installing a 30.16 kilometer sea fence in Tangerang waters, Banten, would be fined according to applicable regulations.

"One of the consequences is that, such as statutory regulations, he has to withdraw and then pay a fine and if there is a criminal element, of course we can report it to the police," said Minister Trenggono as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 21.

Trenggono said that today the examination of the person on behalf of installing the fence in the sea was ongoing at his office, and he was waiting for the results of the examination.

However, he did not want to mention whether the person was a fisherman or not.

"On behalf of the one who installed the fence, it is being investigated at the office. I have not received the report, but what is certain is that we have agreed, tomorrow, when the results come out, there will be consequences," he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto ordered his staff through the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and related parties to investigate and investigate sea fencing in Tangerang waters, Banten, which do not have permits or are illegal.

"The president's directive, one, investigate it thoroughly so that we have to correct the legal corridor. If it doesn't exist, it must belong to the state, now that's the case," said Minister Trenggono when giving a press statement, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday (20/1).

Trenggono explained that development in the sea room should have obtained a permit for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (KKPRL) in accordance with the Job Creation Act.

Due to the absence of this permit, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and related parties, such as the Indonesian Navy, the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam), and the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) will seal it, and identify the perpetrators of sea fencing.

"After we do the sealing, we identify who has it? When we do the sealing, we don't know who owns it. Yes, in a juridical manner, there must be an acknowledgment of who owns it and so on and so on," he said.
