The Explosion At The Mojokerto Police House That Killed 2 Orangs Comes From Firecrackers

East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto revealed the origin of the explosives in the explosion incident at the Aipda Maryudi police house, in Sumolawang Village, Puri District, Mojokerto Regency, which killed two of his relatives.

"The explosives are the remaining firecrackers from the New Year's Eve celebration on Tuesday (31/12/2024) yesterday," said the East Java Police Chief as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 16.

There are several remaining firecrackers stored by Aipda Maryudi to be turned on again during Ramadan in March 2025.

Nevertheless, Imam is still waiting for the results of the complete research and investigation from the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) with members of the Ditreskrimum Polda East Java regarding the explosion case.

The Regional Police Chief is still confirming the connection between the explosives and three units of 3 kg LPG cylinders and two 12 kg LPG cylinders at the site of the explosion.

"The issue of the explosion, which is suspected to be raw material for firecrackers, was found there were five LPG gas cylinders, three green 3 kg tubes and two blue ones, which were 12 kg," he said.

It is currently being developed whether there is a connection with the gas leak which then triggered the explosives stored by this person concerned.

The investigation of this case was monitored directly by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police and Irwasum Polri.

The Kapolda also ensured that Aipda Maryudi would also be held accountable for his actions legally.

The criminal case that is being carried out by Aipda Maryudi for the explosion incident is being handled by investigators from the Ditreskrimum of the East Java Police.

"Then from the aspect of the crime that is currently at the Dirkrimum is working. To deepen the witnesses and examine the person concerned, including waiting for the results of the forensic laboratory. Hopefully next week we can get it," he said.
