Police Say There Are Wounds On The Baby Who Was Abandoned By His Parents At The Sumber Waras Hospital

JAKARTA - A baby boy with the initials MS (5 months) who was abandoned by his parents at the Sumber Waras Hospital, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, had a scar from a hard object impact on his head.

The poor baby who died while receiving medical treatment has undergone a post-mortem at Dr. National Central General Hospital. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM).

"The results of the autopsy have not yet been released," Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of the Grogol Petamburan Police, West Jakarta, AKP Muhammad Aprino Tamara told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Although the autopsy results have not yet been released, the post-mortem results do state that there are scars on the upper right temple, on the left and on the back (the baby's head).

The police confirmed that the injuries to the baby's head were caused by a collision of a hard object or a blunt object.

"Only from the doctor did not say that it (injuries to the baby's head) were the cause of death. So, the results of the cause of death can only be known after the autopsy results come out," he said.

Aprino said that the poor baby was taken by his parents with the initials H and BU to the Sumber Waras Hospital on December 28, 2024, at 02.45 WIB, after the baby showed symptoms of fever on December 27, 2024.

After receiving medical treatment, the poor baby died at 04.00 WIB. His parents who had difficulty paying hospital bills were offered by the hospital to make a Social Security Administration (BPJS) card.

However, his parents slowly left the hospital and chose to run away from neglecting their deceased child.

"One, indeed because the person concerned does not have the money to pay for or pay for medical expenses. And the second is because it is to avoid its obligations," said Aprino.

The police started the search and finally the two perpetrators were arrested at a boarding house in Tambora area, West Jakarta, on Sunday (12/1).

For their actions, H and BU were charged with Article 77 B junto Article 76 B and Article 76 C junto Article 80 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection with a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
