Yasonna Laoly's Call Was Confirmed By The KPK Regarding The Finding Of Evidence Of Harun Masiku's Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said Yasonna H. Laoly had just been summoned now not because he no longer served as Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham). This step was taken according to the needs of investigators.

"Not because, oh, now he is no longer in office, no, no. (We, ed) are only holding on to evidence," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, December 13.

Tessa made sure there was no other purpose in calling Yasonna.

"Of course the investigator in summoning the witness must have a basis, be it related documents, other related witness statements, there are other related instructions," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

"Why is it only now, the investigators may have just obtained this," continued Tessa.

Tessa explained that Yasonna was summoned based on an investigation warrant (sprindik) in the bribery case of the interim replacement process (PAW) that ensnared former PDI-P candidate (PDIP) Harun Masiku. For the case, brother YL is not a development," he said.

In this case, the fugitive gave bribes with Saiful Bahri as a former PDIP cadre to Wahyu Setiawan who served as Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) in 2020. The bribe was given through Wahyu's confidant, Agustiani Tio Fridelina.

"Still in the context of investigating cases of alleged corruption in giving gifts or promises to civil servants or state administrators, said Wahyu Setiawan as a member of the KPU for the 2017-2022 period," explained Tessa.

As previously reported, the former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) under President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Yasonna Laoly was summoned by the KPK on Friday, December 13. However, the PDIP politician confirmed that he could not attend because there was another agenda so the recall was held on Wednesday, December 18.

As a reminder, Yasonna once stated that Harun Masiku had not returned to Indonesia from Singapore. This statement was made after the KPK failed to arrest Harun during a hand arrest operation (OTT) on January 8, 2020.

In fact, based on CCTV footage at Soekarno-Hatta Airport circulating, Harun turned out to have returned to Indonesia on January 7 or before the OTT took place.

After the confusion, the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights said Harun had returned to Indonesia. The information that had been submitted was finally corrected.
