Police Chase Arrest Begal In Belitang OKU, 1 Secured, 2 Others Escape

The Belitang Police thwarted a robbery on Jalan Lintas Sumatra in the Serbaguna Village area, Belitang District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU) Timur, South Sumatra (Sumsel) to viral on social media (medsos).

The robbery using sharp weapons was carried out by three suspects on motorbikes against the victim Welli Revaldo (19), a resident of Sukajadi Village, Belitang District, on Monday, December 9 at around 19.00 WIB.

"The victim was strangled and screamed for help," said Belitang I Police Chief, IPTU Wahyudin in Martapura, Tuesday, December 10, confiscated by Antara.

The victim's screams were heard by members of the police who were on patrol on the highway, then a chase broke out between the perpetrator and the officers.

"During the chase, a perpetrator who took the victim's motorbike away fell and was arrested, while two other suspects fled," he said.

During the arrest, said the police chief, the suspect with the initials RK tried to fight the officers with sharp weapons. However, members of the Belitang I Police, Aiptu Ahmadi (45) managed to be arrested.

The heroic action received appreciation from local residents until it went viral on social media.

"The suspect RK was also secured with evidence of a sharp knife type weapon, and one T liter key. The other two suspects are still being chased by the police," he said.
